birthday post
One of my older paintings, Our Flutter-some Ordeal, recently received the gold award and Phil Hayes Scholarship for the 49th Illustration West Competition, sponsored by the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles. A beluga thank-you to the SCAD illustration department for their helping hand. Thanks so much, professors!

There's going to be an exhibition at Gallery Nucleus to showcase the selected works, including a framed print of Our Flutter-some Ordeal for sale (original is unavailable). The reception will be held this Friday. Come on by if you're in the West Coast.
P.S. I'm a year older and still kicking. Thanks for the kind birthday wishes, everyone.

something to think about
...I came across a debonair fox and his fanciful monocle. He took me by the hand and said, "Come, come, help my friend whose bulbous head is stuck in a tree-hole."
Ducking, turning, twisting, churning, we came upon the peculiar girl and her peculiar situation. "Save me!" she exclaimed. Feeble and helpless, I refrained from answering. Then, I noticed yet another odd, beak-nosed boy. He quacked and tracked and urged me to help his friend. "But I am just a frail mind," I told the boy. Then suddenly, the boy and the fox turned their unusual bodies toward me and their eyes began to pierce my soul...I stood still, trying to hold on to a relapsed sanity...
